TheatreWorks presents “The Caucasian Chalk Circle”

The Illinois College TheatreWorks presents Bertolt Brecht’s “The Caucasian Chalk Circle” directed by Nancy Taylor Porter, opening on Saturday, November 2, at 7:30 p.m. in McGaw Fine Arts Center’s Sibert Theatre.

Brecht wrote the musical play “The Caucasian Chalk Circle” as an exile finding haven in America during World War II. He was concerned about how war benefits the rich, the contractors and those who can gain power by it but often hurts the common folk. Nobility and heroism in this play are found not in the upper classes but in a servant with a good heart who does what is right at great personal peril.

The dates for this production are Saturday, November 2, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, November 7, through Saturday, November 9, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 10, at 2 p.m. To reserve tickets please call the Illinois College TheatreWorks Box Office at 217.245.3471 or click here. General public tickets are $7. Admission is free for Illinois College students, faculty and staff, and MacMurray College students.
