The Illinois College Fine Arts Series welcomes composer, conductor, performer, teacher and organist William J. Ross on Saturday, February 22, at 7:30 p.m. in Rammelkamp Chapel.
“This is not just an organ recital, but an organ recital with several other performers. There will be works for organ, soprano and trumpet, and a work for organ and narrator, along with solo repertoire by Telemann, Buxtehude and Bach. Mr. Ross will also improvise on part of the program,” says Timothy Kramer, chair of the Illinois College Fine Arts Series.
Soprano Addie Gramelspacher, trumpeter John Hume, cellist Susan Phillips and narrator Ken Bradbury will join Ross on his program.
Ross has won prizes both for his compositions and his organ playing, and has been listed in Who’s Who in American Classical Music since 1981. His works have been published by several publishers. Ross has taught music composition, organ and music history at St. Mary’s University and the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is presently organist of Christ Lutheran Church of Alamo Heights in San Antonio, Texas.
Individual concert tickets cost $15. The concert series offers free admission to students of all ages, regardless of where they attend school.
