||Illinois College seeks the next chair of its Education Department, a tenure-track position beginning in the fall of 2014. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in education or an education-related field and teaching experience in both the undergraduate and K-12 contexts. The Department Chair, in conjunction with the Director of the Teacher Program, will be responsible for departmental leadership, strategic planning and development, and program accreditation and assessment.
The department offers nine licensure programs to prepare entry-level teacher candidates and a new master’s program designed to accommodate the professional development needs of in-service teachers. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background in teaching literacy and to those with experience in preparing teachers to work with students who are English language learners. Candidates will also be expected to use their research and teaching areas to interest students in the scholarship of teaching.
