Fine Arts Series performance kicks off week of Presidential Inauguration events
The Illinois College Fine Arts Series will open its 2013-2014 season with St. Louis jazz artists Debby Lennon, accompanied by Carolbeth True’s jazz quartet, Two Times True on Saturday, September 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the McGaw Fine Art Center’s Sibert Theatre.

A longtime member of the St. Louis music scene, Debby Lennon has been called “brassily irresistible” by The Boston Globe and has been a featured soloist with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, The New York City Gay Men’s Chorus, The New Music Circle and many other distinguished groups throughout her illustrious career. The evening’s program will feature a night of standards by artists like Cole Porter, George Gershwin and Johnny Mercer, as well as, jazzy melodies from her solo album, “I’m all Smiles.”

"We are pleased to celebrate the beginning of our inaugural week with a performance on our Fine Arts Series by Debby Lennon, accompanied by Two Times True,” says Dr. Timothy Kramer, chair of the Illinois College Fine Arts Series. “This performance will be a great start to our week of celebration leading up to the inauguration of Dr. Farley."

Debby Lennon’s performance is the first event in a weeklong inaugural celebration for Illinois College’s 14th President, Dr. Barbra A. Farley which will culminate with an installation ceremony (open to the public) on Saturday, September 21, at 2:30 p.m. in Bruner Fitness and Recreation Center on campus. Season tickets for the 2013-2014 Illinois College Fine Arts Series are $60 and include admission to all six performances. Individual concert tickets cost $15. The concert series offers free admission to students of all ages, regardless of where they attend school.
