Illinois College welcomes new faculty members
Illinois College recently announced the appointment of new faculty members for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Volha Abramkina has been appointed visiting assistant professor of physics. Abramkina received a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Grodno State University in Belarus, a Master of Science degree and a Ph.D. in physics from Florida State University.

Bryan Arnold has been appointed to the tenure-track position of assistant professor of biology. Arnold received a Bachelor of Science degree in wildlife biology from Ohio University, a Master of Science degree in biology from John Carroll University and a Ph.D. in behavior, ecology, evolution and systematics from the University of Maryland.

Sumanta Chatterjee has been appointed as visiting assistant professor of environmental biology and ecological studies. Chatterjee received a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from the University of Burdwan, West Bengal, India, a Master of Science degree in applied geology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India, and a Ph.D. in geology from the University of South Carolina.

Aasne Daniels has been appointed as assistant professor of theatre. Daniels received a Bachelor of Arts in theatre from Minnesota State University and a Master of Fine Arts in theatre from Northern Illinois University.

Nichol DelGiorno has been appointed as college organist. DelGiorno received a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Illinois College and a Master of Arts in organ performance from University of Iowa School of Music.

Mary English has been appointed as visiting instructor in education for the fall semester of the 2013-2014 academic year. English received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Illinois College and a Master of Science degree in early childhood/elementary education from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.

Paul Herring has been appointed as visiting instructor in mathematics for the fall semester of the 2013-2014 academic year. Herring received a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University and a Master of Science degree in mathematics from Western Illinois University.

Daniel Meyer has been appointed to the tenure-track position of assistant professor of education. Meyer received a Bachelor of Arts degree in physics from Swarthmore College, an Ed.M. in teaching and curriculum from Harvard University Graduate School in Education, and a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from Cornell University.

Amy McCombs has been appointed as visiting instructor in sociology for the fall semester of the 2013-2014 academic year. McCombs received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from McKendree College and a Master of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Illinois Springfield.

John Muchow has been appointed as visiting instructor in art for the fall semester of the 2013-2014 academic year. Muchow received a Bachelor of Arts in photography from Brooks Institute of Photography.

Christian Secrist has been appointed as visiting assistant professor of music for the 2013-2014 academic year. Secrist received a Bachelor of Music education degree from the University of Mount Union, a Master of Music degree from Cleveland State University and a Ph.D. from Ohio State University.

Zachary Wittmann was appointed this past spring as visiting instructor in psychology. Wittmann received a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Illinois College and a Master of Science degree in counseling from Eastern Illinois University.
