Illinois College students to demonstrate climate change at State Fair
Illinois College students along with other members of the Illinois Heartland Local Section of the American Chemical Society will be at the Illinois State Fair running hands-on demonstrations that highlight the physical properties of carbon dioxide and its impact on the environment.

Demonstrations will take place throughout the day at the ACS booth in Conservation World on Saturday, August 17, at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Illinois College students participating include seniors Kyle Mason of Latham, Ashley Roller of Girard and Mariah Sisson of Virden; juniors Anne Aiello of Springfield, Madalyn Allen of Alexander, Jen Brenneisen of Springfield, and Amber Riley and Ashley Riley both of St. Charles, Mo.; and sophomore Lauren Aiello of Springfield.

“Our demonstrations will illustrate physical properties of carbon dioxide that can negatively affect the environment,” Brent Chandler, assistant professor of chemistry, said.

The Illinois Heartland Local Sections of the American Chemical Society has 240 chemists, chemical engineers and educators in an 11 county area in central Illinois including Peoria, Bloomington-Normal, Henry, Jacksonville and Galesburg.
