“Weapons and Medicine of the Civil War” to be discussed
Glenna Schroeder-Lein, manuscripts librarian at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, will talk about the stories behind the exhibit, “To Kill and To Heal: Weapons and Medicine of the Civil War,” on Thursday, March 21, at 7 p.m. in Kirby Learning Center, Room 6.

The traveling exhibit, which is based on a current exhibit at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield, will be on display in the Parker Science Building throughout March.

As the author of Lincoln and Medicine, The Encyclopedia of Civil War Medicine, Confederate Hospitals on the Move: Samuel H. Stout and the Army of Tennessee, 11 articles and numerous book reviews, Schroeder-Lein is also the co-author of Andrew Johnson: A Biographical Companion. She has taught history as an adjunct or visiting professor at four colleges or universities and was assistant editor for the Papers of Andrew Johnson, Knoxville, Tenn., and the Papers of Abraham Lincoln, Springfield.

Schroeder-Lein has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in history from California State University, Fullerton, along with a master’s degree in library science from the University of Arizona and a Ph.D. in history from the University of Georgia.
