Karen Dean now an Oxfam ambassador


Illinois College junior Bret Thixton kept Friday night’s ceremony short.

In IC’s McGaw Theater on campus, the economics and political science major from Riverton shared a few words about Oxfam America and introduced one of the organization’s newest Sisters on the Planet ambassadors — political science professor Karen Dean.

Dean is one of five such ambassadors in Illinois. The organization consists of more than 400 ambassadors worldwide, but Illinois College has the only Oxfam group in about a 250-mile radius.
