
Japanese culture, customs and cuisine will be on display at Illinois College when a visiting delegation of college students hosts a celebration for the Jacksonville community.
The Matsuri festival will take place on Tuesday, February 26, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Bruner Fitness and Recreation Center on the Illinois College campus. Held annually, the event will feature Japanese food, demonstrations and hands-on activities. Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend.
Twenty-five students from Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan, arrived in Jacksonville in early February and will spend a little over four weeks engaged in the study of American culture and the English language on campus. The college is in its 26th year of intercultural exchange with the university.
