The Illinois College TheatreWorks presents “Almost, Maine” this month at the ICEBOX Theatre in Kirby Learning Center.
“Almost, Maine” showcases the relationships of everyday people in all their bitter and sweet realities. Written by playwright and actor John Cariani, the play is based in the fictional town of Almost, Maine. The people there have the same struggles with relationships and dreams of love as anyone else, sort of. It seems as if they are almost always finding exactly what they want. As the Northern Lights hover in the star-filled sky above, residents of Almost find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways.
“In this play about these delightfully vulnerable people, we see that love can be charming, devastating, sweet, unsatisfying, fulfilling, and most of all, unexpectedly hopeful,” said director Kate Muchmore, visiting assistant professor of theatre. “It has been a great experience working with IC student actors to discover the layers and honesty of these characters and to produce such a wonderful show with the IC technical crew.”
Performances of “Almost, Maine” will be held in the ICEBOX Theatre on February 14, 15, 16, 21, 22 and 23 at 7:30 p.m., and February 24 at 2 p.m. Tickets are priced at $7. Contact the IC TheatreWorks Box Office at 217.245.3471 to reserve tickets or order online at click here
