The Illinois College chapter of Amnesty International

welcomes Mario Venegas to campus to share his journey of activism in Chile and his current involvement with amnesty and human rights advocates on Tuesday, January 29, at 7 p.m. in Kirby Learning Center, Room 6.
Along with telling his own story, Venegas will also show the documentary, “Beneath the Blindfold.” The documentary sheds light on the human rights abuses and torture taking place throughout the world.

As a political prisoner during the Augusto Pinochet's regime in Chile, Venegas was tortured in several concentration camps across Chile. After he was expelled, Venegas became a human rights activist and joined groups like Amnesty International to bring attention to human rights violations.
