“Capitol Steps” to bring their political satire to campus
Illinois College welcomes the political satire group, “Capitol Steps,” on Wednesday, January 23, at 7:30 p.m. in Rammelkamp Chapel as part of the Fine Arts Series.

The “Capitol Steps” have “put the mock in democracy,” as their logo states, since 1981 when a group of Senate staffers set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. Since they began, they have recorded over 30 albums including their latest, “Take the Money and Run — for President.” They’ve been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS, and can be heard four times a year on NPR stations nationwide during their “Politics Takes a Holiday” radio specials.

Over the years, many of the “Steps” ignored the conventional wisdom, “Don't quit your day job,” and although not all of the current members of the “Steps” are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of 18 Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience.

The concert is free for all students. Tickets for the concert are $15, available at the door.
