Information Literacy Embedded Experience |

Course Guidelines
The Information Literacy Embedded Experience is fulfilled through the completion of the following three information literacy components:
• the library component of the first-year writing course;
• one course with an information literacy component;
• satisfactory completion of a discipline-appropriate research project in a course within the major.
In order to qualify as an Information Literacy Embedded Experience, it must require students to
1. define and articulate the need for information from a variety of sources;
2. select and retrieve the information using a variety of methods;
3. articulate and apply criteria for evaluating the information and its sources;
4. apply new and prior information to the planning and creation of a particular product or performance;
5. communicate the product or performance effectively;
6. demonstrate an understanding of the ethical, legal, and socio-economic issues surrounding information and information technology;
7. validate the understanding and interpretation of information through discourse with other individuals, subject area experts, and/or practitioners. |
