Definition
Courses in the Social, Spiritual, and Philosophical Issues category train students to recognize foundational questions of meaning and values within human communities.
Intended Learning Outcomes for Students
Upon completion of a Social, Spiritual, and Philosophical Issues course, students will
1. be able to speak and write with accuracy about the basic tenets of at least one system of meaning as found within human societies;
2. be able to understand how different perspectives may lead to competing systems of meaning;
3. be able to encounter disparate systems of meaning, and uncover common threads among them;
4. cultivate an awareness of the implications of their own values for their behavior/action.
