“Swing into Spring” will feature big band, swing and blues music


The Illinois College Jazz Ensemble will perform the concert “Swing into Spring” on Wednesday, May 2, at 7:30 the McGaw Fine Arts Center’s Sibert Theater.

The concert will include vocal selections of “Dream a Little Dream of Me” and “Home.” Other selections on the program will include “In the Mood” as well as other big band, swing tunes and blues music.

The Jazz Ensemble celebrates its ninth year at the college under the direction of Marty McCandless. The 15-piece group plays a wide variety of popular music and blends in a vocal accompaniment by students. The group is made up of music majors and minors as well as non-music students who simply enjoy playing music.

The concert is free and open to the public.
