Applications to attend Illinois College have surpassed the 2,000 mark, the most ever received for an academic year in school history and a 25 percent increase over last year.
“The admission team has been working hard developing relationships and traveling around the Midwest, our coaches continue to recruit solid athletes and our online presence has grown this year,” Stephanie Chipman, vice president for enrollment management and college marketing, said. “These are just a few of the many things we believe may have contributed to our 25 percent increase in admission applications from last year and a 100 percent increase from five years ago.”
President Axel D. Steuer and the Board of Trustees developed a vision for the future of Illinois College that includes growing the campus to about 1,200 students. Currently there are just under 1,000 undergraduate students from 28 states and 19 countries enrolled at the college.
“To that end, the Office of Admission hoped to increase the number of applications for admission we receive each year for the next three years. I’m thrilled that we were able to exceed our goal of 2,000 applications two years ahead of schedule,” Chipman said.
Illinois College has received 2,050 applications for first-year students entering the fall 2012 semester and will continue accepting applications until the class is full. Last year, the college received 1,605 applications.
