Japanese culture, customs and cuisine will be on display again this spring at Illinois
College when a visiting delegation of college students hosts a celebration for the Jacksonville community.
The Matsuri festival will take place on Tuesday, February 28, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Bruner Fitness and Recreation Center on the Illinois College campus. Held annually, the event will feature Japanese food, demonstrations, games and entertainment. Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend.
Twenty-seven students from Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan, arrived in Jacksonville in early February and will spend a little over four weeks engaged in the study of American culture and the English language on campus. The college is in its 25th year of intercultural exchange with the university.
