Theatre department features student-directed one acts
Two students from the Illinois College theatre department will make their directorial debut with their final project from Theatre 485. Senior Marlon Poe and junior Carly Holmes will be presenting their student-directed one acts to the community on Monday and Tuesday, December 12 and 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the ICEBOX Theatre in Kirby Learning Center.

“Students are responsible for choosing, auditioning, casting, coming up with a production design concept, overseeing the execution of that concept, rehearsing and ultimately presenting a one-act play,” Associate Professor of Theatre Nancy Taylor Porter says.

The first play, “Next,” is directed by Poe, and he says the show is to get you to think, wonder and most importantly to laugh out loud.

The next night will feature a performance directed by Holmes called “The Under-A-Minutemen Present: Literary Canon Fodder.”

Holmes is interested in improv so she chose a show that would allow her to work in these areas.
“I am very excited to share with everyone this hilarious one act,” Holmes says. “This show will definitely get you laughing while exploring the famous literary works throughout history.”

The shows are free and open to the public.
