Schewe Library contains more than 143,000 books, subscribes to over 600 journals, and houses more than 10,000 items on microfilm and microfiche. Patrons have access to numerous online databases as well. Schewe Library is a member of the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI), and the Alliance Library System. Illinois College faculty, students, and staff have access to over 30 million volumes through the I-Share system.
Facilities include a Library classroom (210), a Digital Learning Center (main floor), seminar rooms, and the H. Gary Hudson Faculty Research Room. Schewe also has a collection of Abraham Lincoln items and a collection of Civil War titles. A Special Collection area contains printed materials relating to Illinois College's history and rare books.
