Schewe Library contains more than 143,000 books, subscribes to over 600 journals and houses more than 10,000 items on microfilm and microfiche. Patrons have access to numerous online databases as well. Schewe Library is a member of CARLI, the Illinois Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries, and the Alliance Library System. Illinois College students, faculty and staff have access to over 30 million volumes through the I-Share system.
Facilities include an audio-visual room, seminar rooms and the H. Gary Hudson Faculty Research Room. A collection of Abraham Lincoln items and a collection of Civil War titles also reside in Schewe. A Special Collection area contains printed materials relating to Illinois College's history and rare books. Research assistance with the archival material is available through our reference librarian. Those interested in 19th century alumni of the college are encouraged to check our digitized alumni catalog from 1829-1912.
