| Religion professor joins national board |
|
| Illinois College associate professor of religion Caryn D. Riswold has been elected to a four-year term on the Lilly Fellows Program National Network Board.
“I'm very excited about the privilege of serving on this board,” Riswold says. “It has been a meaningful part of my professional career for 11 years already, Illinois College has benefited from its initiatives, and I am thrilled to be able to give back by serving on the national board.”
The Lilly Fellows Program is based at Valparaiso University in northwest Indiana, and their goal is to strengthen the quality and shape the character of church-related institutions of higher learning in 21st century.
Illinois College has been a member of the Lilly Fellows Program National Network since 2003, joining a network of distinguished colleges and universities. Riswold has been the college's faculty representative from the beginning.
“My involvement with the LFP actually goes back to 2000-2002, when I was one of the Postdoctoral Fellows teaching at Valparaiso University in the theology department and in Christ College, the honors college,” Riswold says.
Over the years, LFP has helped fund Illinois College’s Faculty Mentoring Program, as well as helping students and faculty attend conferences, workshops and seminars.
“These are just some of the opportunities made possible through the Lilly Fellows Program National Network, in particular those that have directly benefited students and faculty at Illinois College,” Riswold says. “As a newly elected board member, I will participate in discussions and decisions about these types of initiatives, supporting the mission and direction of the program as it supports teaching and learning at church-related colleges and universities around the country.” |
