Hi! My name is Zipporea Abdulmalik. I am a junior and I’m now majoring in theatre. I plan to minor in communication along with business (MOL). As a first-year student, I took Stagecrafts with Craig Steenerson. I took Acting and played a Dynamite girl for the production Hairspray, directed by Kate Muchmore. As a sophomore, I was a fairy for the production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream also directed by Kate Muchmore. This year I took Stage Management and Theatre Operations with Craig Steenerson and Theatre on the Edge with Nancy Taylor Porter. In Stage Management, I learned what the roles of a stage manager were and I also stage managed the one-act Ferris Wheel for my final project. I am loving my time with the IC Theatre department and can't wait to see where it brings me!
My name is Caitlin Buchanan, and I am a junior theatre major here at Illinois College. Since starting here at IC, I've done many new things. I was the assistant stage manager for the 2011 Fall show Snapshot and have been stage manager for other shows such as Hairspray, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Almost, Maine. When I first started to look at theatre, I never thought I would have been a stage manager since I had spent most of my time only constructing the set for my high school shows. And while being a stage manager might be a huge time commitment, it has helped me finally figure out what I want to do with my life. Whether that is on the east coast or the west coast, I have yet to decide, but compared to where I was when I started, this is a huge step in the right direction.
Hey! My name is Logan Giesing. I’m a senior theatre major and Spanish minor. I have performed in the one-acts Wasp, Next, and The
Game. I have been in Medea, The Love of the Nightingale, Snapshot, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Almost, Maine. I have also helped back stage with Hairspray. I'm part of Lincoln's Security Detail, which is the improv troupe on campus. I have gained a lot more respect for the technical aspects of theatre when taking courses in Lighting and Sound and Stagecrafts. I also have learned more about connecting with a role and different acting techniques through the various acting classes I have taken. Throughout my theatre career at Illinois College, I have become a more well-rounded person outside as well as within the theatre department. I really enjoy working alongside the professors and learning more
about the different forms of acting styles and how to make my characters come to life.
I’m Taylor Molandro
! I’m a senior theatre major with MOL and music minors. I have performed in Hairspray
, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Almost Maine
, The Vagina Monologues
, and the student-directed one-acts. In addition to being on stage, I stage managed the one-act, Final Placement
, worked on props for A Midsummer Night’s Dream
, and co-directed The Vagina Monologues
. The knowledge I have gained thus far in the theatre program has given me valuable insight, communication, and leadership skills for my everyday life. And where else is it okay to roll around the floor?
Hey, I'm Stephanie Pallay
. I'm a sophomore art and theatre double major. This past year I have been in A Midsummer Night's Dream
, the student-directed one-act Ferris Wheel
, and The Vagina Monologues
. I also assistant stage managed Almost, Maine
, and appeared in Children of a Lesser God
. In addition, I work in costumes and paint the sets. Being a part of TheatreWorks has been an awesome part of college so far. It has offered a chance to meet tons of new people, further develop my acting, and come into my own a little more. I actually had no intention of being a theatre major when I came to college, but I realized that I loved it so much, I couldn't bear to be away from it. I have already had amazing opportunities, for which I am so grateful to the professors/directors, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds!
Hey there! My name is Drew Stroud I am a sophomore double majoring in theatre and economics, with a fine arts administration minor. I’ve looked all around, but the thing that had always begged for my attention was the stage. Over the past year, I’ve made it my home. Through acting in my first Shakespeare play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, to helping out senior theatre majors in their Senior Capstone directing class, to putting together a production of Almost, Maine in one month, theatre has become what I spend a majority of my time doing. Productions aren’t the only thing IC has offered. At the start of the year, the improv team was hosting auditions, and I thought I would give it a shot. It was one of the best decisions so far in college, and it just made me love theatre even more. But I don’t always spend my time just on the stage. Earlier in the year, I was offered the position as the theatre department’s Business Manager, which is exactly what I want to do in the future. Illinois College has offered me so many opportunities, and I still have three years left!
Hello! My name is Eli Wright, and I am a sophomore at Illinois College. To start off my Illinois College acting career, I took on the roles of Duke Theseus and King Oberon in the Fall 2012 play, A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Kate Muchmore. Last spring, I followed up that performance with the role of Orin Dennis in Children of a Lesser God, directed by Dr. Nancy Taylor Porter. These plays have allowed me to really be myself on and off the stage, while developing an increased sense of self and community. In the future, I hope to take a part in the improv troupe, as well
