A group of Illinois College faculty are performing in a staged reading of the play, “Seven.” The play ties into the summer reading for 2011-2012 first-year seminar students. Cast members include Assistant Professor of Communications Adria Battaglia, Associate Professor of English Beth Capo, Associate Professor of Sociology Kelly Dagan, Associate Professor of Religion Caryn Riswold, Assistant Professor of Theatre Kindra Steenerson, Associate Professor of Theatre Nancy Taylor Porter and Associate Professor of English Lisa Udel.
The play provides a portal through which audiences will experience the varied ways seven different women have overcome obstacles on their individual quests to justice, freedom and equality. As Vital Voices Global Partnership President Alyse Nelson said, "‘Seven’ is a commanding reminder of the transformative power of women's leadership in our world."
Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend on Tuesday, December 14, at
7 p.m. in the ICEBOX Theatre in Kirby Learning Center. For more information on the play, “Seven,” visit: http://www.sevenplay.org/seven.html.
