Outside Scholarship Opportunities - February 2015 Deadlines

Deadline: 2/1/2015.  Every AXA Advisors’ branch office nationwide distributes up to 12 scholarships to high school seniors who live and attend high school in their area.  Only the first 10,000 applications will be accepted.  Up to $2,500

IAA Foundation Scholarship Program
Deadline: 2/1/2015. The IAA Foundation is pleased to announce plans to award 74 scholarships to students majoring in Agriculture, Agri-business, or a related field, as well as many scholarships open to any major.  Students will be selected based on scholarship, extracurricular involvement, financial need, and a personal statement.  Award amounts vary.

Illinois Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarships
Deadline: 2/6/2015. Must obtain letter of reference from local DAR chapter, which requires earlier deadlines in order to get chapter letters and/or endorsement. Students should apply through their county of residence. Students from Morgan and Scott Counties apply through the Rev. James Caldwell Chapter, NSDAR in Jacksonville. Community Bankers Association of Illinois Essay Contest
Deadline: 2/4/2015. The CBAI Foundation for Community Banking offers 16 scholarships to top Illinois high-school seniors statewide each year.  These scholarship awards help deserving students highlight the importance of community banking to the local economy. Up to $4,000

Harry S. Truman Scholarship
Deadline: 2/3/2015. Full-time student pursuing a bachelor's degree with at least a junior-level academic standing during the 2014-15 academic year and intending to pursue graduate studies in public service are eligible to apply for a scholarship up to $30,000.

Boren Awards for International Studies
Deadline: 2/4/2015. Funding opportunities focused on geographic areas, languages, and fields of study critical to US national security and under-represented in study abroad. Up to $20,000.
 
Garden Club of America Awards
Deadline: 2/10/2015. College students wishing to pursue summer studies in field work, research, or classroom work in the environmental field. Open to college students following their freshman, sophomore, or junior year. $2,000 award.
 
Deadline: 2/15/2015. Must be a high school senior graduating in 2015 and live in the areas served by Mediacom. Essay and educator references required. $1,000 award.

IC Alumni Association Legacy Scholarship
Deadline: 2/15/2015. Continuing the family legacy on the Hilltop, the Alumni Association has established the Legacy Scholarship to assist children of Illinois College alumni. The scholarship is for $2,000 per year and will continue for four years, or eight semesters, of study. An application along with a short essay explaining why it is important to the student to continue the family tradition of an Illinois College education is required. First consideration will be given to those who apply by February 15.
 
La Unidad Latina Foundation
Deadline: 2/15/2015. Undergraduate students with a minimum GPA of 2.8 who have completed at least one full year of study. Awards from $250 - $2,000.
 
The Laverne Noyes Scholarship Application
Deadline: 2/15/2015. Undergraduate students who are descendants of a veteran of World War I are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Applications should be completed and returned to the Illinois College Office of Financial Aid with a February 15th priority deadline.

National Society Daughters of the American Revolution
Deadline: 2/15/2015. Applications should be submitted directly to the National Chairman. Various national scholarships are available and you may apply for more than one award. See website for details.

Robert F. Sibert Memorial Scholarship
Deadline: 2/15/2015. First consideration will be given to the dependent or spouse living with a employee of Bound to Stay Bound Books. If no eligible employee's dependent or spouse applies, the scholarship will then be awarded to an entering first year student that is a resident of Morgan County or who attended a high school located in Morgan County. Selection of the recipient will be based on financial need, academic achievement, and community service. The Robert F. Sibert Memorial Scholarship will be $7,500 per year for four successive years. The recipient must remain in good academic standing in order to remain eligible for the Scholarship.
 
Deadline: 2/20/2015.  Current members of the UMWA and their dependents are eligible to apply for the scholarship.  Students must submit an essay and demonstrate good academic standing.  $2,500

Frank L. Greathouse Government Accounting Scholarship
Deadline: 2/20/2015. Full-time undergraduate accounting students preparing for a career in state and local government finance. Scholarship is up to $6,000.

Minorities in Government Finance Scholarship
Deadline: 2/20/2015. Current minority students in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or political science programs eligible to apply for up to $6,000.
  
Deadline: 2/27/2015. IACAC is pleased to offer five $1,000 scholarships to students who exhibit a commitment to learning and have demonstrated leadership skills and/or community service involvement.  Applicants must be a graduating senior from an IACAC member high school with a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  He or she must enroll as a full-time college freshman at a post-secondary institution in the 2015-2016 school year.  The student must also demonstrate involvement in high school, the community, or service to others with motivation to achieve personal goals.
