Outside Scholarship Opportunities - January 2015 Deadlines
Deadline: 1/1/2015.  Students are encouraged to submit a 500 word essay describing leadership and community service.  Students must also submit an unofficial transcript and have at least a 3.0 GPA.  $500. 
Deadline: 1/1/2015.  Undergraduate and graduate design students are encouraged to submit an essay discussing current fashion design impact on the world of luxury jewelry design.  Students have a minimum 2.8 GPA.  $1,000.
Deadline: 1/8/2015.  High school seniors who have demonstrated attributes of leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship are encouraged to apply for this prestigious scholarship. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.  $10,000 (renewable).
Deadline: 1/9/2015.  Asian and/or Pacific Islander students are encouraged to apply.  Students must have at least a 2.7 GPA and must complete the FAFSA.  $2,500 - $15,000
Deadline: 1/14/2015.  Using their best pop culture and math skills (and a little help from Professor Google), students enrolled in a two-year or four-year college or university are eligible to enter for this scholarship.  Students must submit an answer to a trivia question posted each month on the website.  All those with correct answers will be sent a tiebreaker questions.  Students who submit the correct answer to the tiebreaker answer are entered into a random drawing.  $2,500
Deadline: 1/15/2015.  Students are asked to submit a video essay discussing what legal and social initiatives can be made to curb texting and driving.  $1,100.
Deadline: 1/15/2015.  Current and incoming college students are encouraged to submit a 500+ word essay related to cell phones and distracted driving.  $1,000.
Deadline: 1/15/2015.  Students are encouraged to submit a 500+ word essay on how laws can be changed to make roads and highways safer.  Students who are currently enrolled or in the process of applying are eligible to apply.  Two scholarships are offered.  $1,000.
Deadline: 1/15/2015.  Students are encouraged to apply by submitting an essay explaining career, academic, and/or vocational goals.  Students do not have to be Mensa members.  Award amounts vary
Deadline: 1/15/2015.  High school graduates and currently enrolled students who live with MS or have a parent with MS are eligible to apply by submitting an online application and personal statement.  $1,000 - $3,000
Deadline: 1/15/2015.  Currently enrolled students are encouraged to submit a 600-800 word essay discussing the best or most important software innovation in history.  $1,000
Deadline: 1/15/2015.  Students are encouraged to formulate a social media campaign for a company and write a 1000 - 2000 word essay discussing the campaign.  $1,000
Deadline: 1/16/2015.  Rising undergraduate seniors and graduate applicants with an interest in pursuing a Foreign Service career with the US Department of State are encouraged to apply for the fellowship.  Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher at the time of application.  Up to $37,500 
Deadline: 1/20/2015.  The Ronald McDonald House Charities offers scholarships for high school seniors living in areas where there are participating local RMHC Chapters.  $1,000
Deadline: 1/30/2015.  Full-time students who are currently sophomores or juniors planning a career in mathematics, natural sciences, or engineering are encouraged to apply.  Students must be nominated by faculty and have at least a B average.  Up to $7,500
Deadline: 1/30/2015.  High School seniors who are children or grandchildren of Elks members who are in good standing are encouraged to apply.  The merit-based scholarships are renewable.  $1,000 per year 
Deadline: 1/30/2015.  Students enrolled full-time with a minimum GPA of 3.0 pursuing a computer science or related STEM degree with an interest in computer science are encouraged to apply.  Full or partial scholarships available
Deadline: 1/31/2015.  Applicants must be members or children of members of unions that participate in any Union Plus program (list available online).  Students will be evaluated based on academic ability, social awareness, financial need, and appreciation of labor.  $500 - $4,000
