Tree Campus USA College

The Arbor Day Foundation has again honored Illinois College as a Tree Campus USA college for its dedication to campus forestry management and environmental stewardship.

Illinois College was the second college or university in Illinois to be named a Tree Campus USA University. Illinois State University was among the 29 institutions that earned the designation when it was first made available by the Arbor Day Foundation in 2008.

Abraham Lincoln Hall Wins LEED Silver Certification

The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) awarded LEED Silver Certification to Illinois College’s newest residence hall, Abraham Lincoln Hall. Illinois College’s new green residence hall is among the first structures in downstate Illinois to achieve this award and was the first college or university building in downstate Illinois to achieve LEED Silver certification.

The American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment

Illinois College has joined a growing network of colleges and universities nationwide that are committed to sharply reducing and eventually eliminating all of their institutions’ global warming emissions, and accelerating the research and educational efforts to equip society to re-stabilize the earth’s climate. The pledge came when Illinois College President Axel D. Steuer signed the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment, joining the leaders of other institutions across the country.
