As a biology student at Illinois College, there is literally no limit to your potential or opportunities to grow academically while discovering your scientific passions.
Every day you not only learn alongside some of the brightest and best students on campus, but you work directly with faculty experts, many of which are known nationally – even globally – in their fields of study. Some current faculty research projects focus on the preservation of endangered species of orchids, the behavioral ecology of bats, DNA repair and the study of microbial communities.
And where does all this great learning take place? Many of our students are studying and doing research in some of the world’s most remote locations, like the Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge, Ecuador, Madagascar, Hawaii and Cuba. But most of your days will be spent in the Parker Science Building, a state-of-the-art research facility that houses faculty offices for easy “open-door” access, laboratories, classrooms and places for students to gather and discuss what they are learning. In fact, current students will tell you that in many ways, “Parker” feels like home.
Regardless of your scientific interest, Illinois College's biology program will prepare you for graduate school, medical school or any number of exciting careers in science related industries. Here are a few:
